Caretaker Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation Maxime Verhagen will be visiting the Caribbean Netherlands from Monday, July 9 until Friday, July 13. He will hold talks on Saba, St. Eustatius and Bonaire about energy supply and the stimulation of the economy of the islands. On Monday, July 9, minister Verhagen will hold talks with the Island Governor and Commissioners of Saba. He will visit utility company GEBE and view the location which is eligible for the placing of windmills, which could make an important contribution for the energy supply of the island. The minister will also sign an agreement with RBC Royal Bank whereby more bank credit will become available for business operators of medium and small enterprises, fishermen and farmers.
On Tuesday Verhagen will meet with the Island Governor and Commissioners of St. Eustatius. He will also meet with the Island Councils of Saba and Statia. The improvement of the investment climate will be central in discussions with business owners, banks and members of the Economic Development Team.
On Statia, the minister will sign a credit agreement with Windward Islands Bank. On Wednesday, July 12, he will visit NuStar Statia Terminal, and will visit the location which is eligible for the placing of windmills. Minister Verhagen will be visiting Bonaire on Thursday, July 13.
