Tourist Bureaus attend SMART trade show

Tourist Bureaus of Saba and Statia (STDF) participated in the 13th St. Martin/ St. Maarten Annual Regional Trade Show SMART.
The regional trade mission is organised by L’Association de Hoteliers de St. Martin, St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA), in conjunction with L’Office du Tourisme de St. Martin and St. Maarten Tourist Bureau.
Glenn Holm was representing Saba and Public Relations Officer Teena Lopes represented Statia’s Tourism Bureau at the event, which took place at Radisson Blu Resort on Thursday and Friday. (See The Daily Herald and Daily Herald photo)
SMART is a professional way to bring together the “movers and shakers” in the tourism industry for St. Maarten/ St. Martin and the surrounding Caribbean destinations. The trade show is to provide a venue for international buyers to network and negotiate future business opportunities.
Tourism representatives of many other Caribbean destinations attended the trade mission, among which were Anguilla, Dominica, St. Barths and also United States, Europe, Chile and Argentina.
Like many other events such as this one, Statia and Saba were next-door neighbours at SMART. This year’s convention allowed delegates to network amongst the more than 60 local, regional and international suppliers present at the fair.
